Professional Development Committee – 2012 Programs Meeting – Monday Dec 19, 2011

The Syracuse ACM Professional Development Committee has traditionally offered a wide variety of introductory technical education programs. These programs are designed for members interested in getting a fast overview of the new and “hot” technology of the day!

Past seminars have included such topics as:

  • Linux Configuration
  • Web Development
  • Flash Development
  • SharePoint Server

Recently we took a survey of our membership and found that the following topics were the MOST in demand:

  • Android Development
  • iPhone Development
  • Windows Phone 7 Development
  • Web Application Development
  • Cloud Computing
  • Website Design
  • Open Source Programming
  • Cloud Computing
  • Microsoft SQL

Our programs have always been on a Saturdays from 9:00am until about 4:00pm. For this year we have also discussed having a series of short evening courses with Wednesday as the preferred night.

One option we’ve discussed is having a series of three “mini-courses” on Mobile Development:

  • Android
  • iPhone
  • Windows Phone

I am looking for members who are interested in helping to plan programs and also those who can help present all or part of them too!

If you are interested in assisting the Professional Development Committee, I encourage you to attend our planning meeting for next year that will be held:

Monday December 19, 2011 – 5:30 at the Blue Tusk:

Blue Tusk
165 Walton St.

We meet in the back room!
